Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Committee for the COVID-19 pandemic issued updates to the movement restrictions of the National Screening Programme. Now, Abu Dhabi residents and citizens will be allowed to leave the emirate without a mandatory permit.
However, for entry into Abu Dhabi, and between the regions of Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and Al Dhafra there is a permit needed, which can be obtained via the Abu Dhabi Police website.
The government also added that “entry and exit of workers to Abu Dhabi emirate is still prohibited”. For certain categories of workers, exceptions are applicable. Particularly, it concerns frontline workers; those suffering from chronic diseases who need to visit healthcare providers outside their area; and workers transporting goods between regions.
These workers still have to apply for the permit or contact Abu Dhabi Police before scheduled travel on (800) 2626. As was said previously, movement restrictions still apply to travel within each region of the emirate during the hours of the National Disinfection Programme, which is between 10:00 PM and 06:00 AM the following day.
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
