Under new requirements, UAE citizens and residents will have to provide negative 3 tests (PCR or DPI test) upon entering the capital. Abu Dhabi Crisis, Emergency and Disasters Committee implements new requirements “to enhance preventative measures for the early detection of COVID-19”.
It is stated that travelers staying for less than 4 days are required to provide only one test. But, if the traveler stays for a longer period, it is mandatory to undergo a PCR test on the 4th day (the day of entering is considered as day one). Also, travelers will be required to take a third and final PCR test on the 8th day.
These updated requirements apply to all UAE citizens and residents, including Abu Dhabi residents, with the exception of volunteers in the COVID-19 vaccine trials. The volunteers are given a permit to use the emergency vehicle lanes to enter the city.
Provided fail to undergo the PCR test on day four and day eight, a traveler will have to pay fines. At the moment, the rapid DPI test valid for entry on day one costs around AED 50. The PCR tests can cost upwards of AED 150.
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
