The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, SEHA, announced opening a brand new testing centre with a total testing capacity of 335,000 residents and citizens over the next two weeks. UAE determines a goal to provide people with testing facilities and world-class, quality care.
Located in an industrial area, Musaffah, this testing centre is aimed to support the UAE’s National Screening Project. The building constructed with an area over 3,500 sq.m. will increase testing facilities by 80 percent. The latest centre adds to the National Screening Centre in M42 and another in M1 at the old Mussaffah clinic.
Considering high temperatures in UAE summer, the centre was designed with an air-conditioning system, which will enable health workers to carry out all testes and probes without risk. Staff will collect swabs from inside fully sealed cabins, as a whole they will test about 3,500 visitors per day.
UAE government’s set this initiative as part mission to test as many people as possible and provide the necessary medical care for those who require it. In addition, The Department of Municipalities and Transport will be providing free public transport to and from the screening centres for people who struggle to reach them.
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
