The sterilisation is defined as first priority for achieving public health and wellbeing during a global pandemic. With the latest technology devices, in particular, bots, the airport will be disinfected on remote control reducing the risk of contamination.
This newest robot CodiBot was manufactured by UAE-based company Marakeb Technologies. With the help of real-time video and 4G data connection, the unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) will disinfect Abu Dhabi Airports, which will ensure the operators’ safety, eliminating the risk of human exposure.
It is expected that robots will disinfect staff areas, cargo facilities and aircraft, ensuring clean and sterile. The CodiBot is designed to improve the process of sterilisation as part of preventive measures at Abu Dhabi airport. The full list of which includes thermal screening, nasal swabbing, and polymerase chain reaction testing, in line with the recommendations by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap).
Shareef Hashim Al Hashmi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports said, “…we have a clear responsibility to ensure our spaces remain clear of any virus threat. By deploying artificial intelligence, we add another layer of protection and build on our comprehensive response to the COVID-19 outbreak.”
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
