The ban comes into force from the moment the circular was published on the official Twitter page of the state body. The circular states that “In line with preventive measures for Coronavirus ”Covid-19″ the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development directs all licensed restaurants and shisha cafes across Abu Dhabi to cease providing shisha in its facilities.”
Those owners of restaurants and cafes that violate the order will be responsible to state authorities. Inspections will be conducted throughout the city to identify potential violations.
Similar measures were taken on Wednesday, March 11, by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism in relation to hotels and other tourism establishments. In such venues, it is also forbidden to serve a shisha to clients. Such orders take effect immediately and non-compliance will cause legal action.
Such measures have been taken in connection with the need to ensure public safety and take care of the health of citizens and guests of the country. Similar steps were also taken by the Dubai authorities. Strengthening hygiene, attention to disinfection and reduction of the possible means of transmission, as well as social distancing are considered some of the ways to reduce the outbreak of a dangerous virus, which is now on a global scale.
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
