Abu Dhabi has started using electronic wristbands to enforce preventive measures and quarantine regime, which will reduce the spread of the COVID-19 and its strain. The initiative is launched by the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH), and it serves as a tracing and monitoring device.
People with mild symptoms and who don’t require to be hospitalised will use the smartwatch, which is linked to COVID-19 testing and tracing app, AlHosn, it will be used to make sure people actually stay at home.
Smartwatches are fixed on the COVID-19 patients, who visit the Covid-19 Prime Assessment Centre at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec). The new centre, opened by ambulatory healthcare services of the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha).
As a usual watch, the band is fixed on the arms and it monitors the place of patients. Some of them receive home isolation instructions and guidelines. And the smartwatch is tracing their state along with the DoH Stay Home app. It can be removed after two COVId-19 tests have negative results.
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
