To stop the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19) and maintain public health and safety, the UAE authorities are taking unprecedented measures. The decision on the suspension of all passenger flights was taken jointly by the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, and the General Civil Aviation Authority. The order was published on March 23 and comes into effect two days later, from March 25. The ban applies only to passenger flights. An exception will be made for cargo as well as emergency evacuation flights, they will continue.
The preliminary term of the ban is two weeks, but if necessary, its validity will be revised. In the future, if the ban on passenger flights is lifted, additional checks and other measures aimed at reducing the risk of the spread of the virus will remain in force.
For detailed explanations of what to do for those who have already purchased tickets for one of the flights in the coming days, consumers need to contact the airline or a travel agency.
This is one of the measures taken by government bodies over the past period. The UAE also suspended the issuance of any type of visa and urges those who arrived in the country some time ago to maintain strict self-isolation. In addition, most of the cultural and entertainment venues are closed, mass events are postponed or canceled. People are encouraged to work from home and adhere to the principles of social distancing.
To date, 153 cases of coronavirus infection have been officially reported in UAE with 2 fatal cases and 38 cases recorded the recovery of patients.
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
