Lately, the US Embassy has warned the public to be cautious as there is a new way of deceiving people making them transfer money or giving bank details.
This warning came several prompts of online scam where criminals tried to solicit “purchase orders for solar generators”. The Embassy tweeted that it was the fraudsters, who used unofficial email addresses for payments of “false contracts”.
The Embassy alerted residents, that in case of receiving any requests “from a Juliana Morgan, Gary Dikens or Michelle Roland”, individuals should immediately report to the embassy via DS_RSOABU_DHABI@state.gov.
The advisory said, “If you receive an email from any company or individual claiming to represent US Embassy Abu Dhabi, be cautious”. Last time, online criminals posed officials trying to receive money from business owners. And, there was used the US Embassy Abu Dhabi logo at the bottom of the email.
“Any official correspondence from the US Embassy or an embassy official will be from a properly formatted US Department of State email address ending in @state.gov and will have a corresponding Embassy telephone number with local area code.”
According to the statement of the Embassy, do not respond to any requests from six additional email addresses: usa@embassytenderdep.com; usa@embassytenders.com; info@embassytendersdep.com; usa2@tendersdept.com; info1@tendersdept.com and supplymanagement@tendersdept.com.
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
