The UAE Federal Authority of Identity and Citizenship (ICA) announced an update for expired visa holders, now there will be given one-month grace period for expired visit visas.
UAE government earlier said that in case of visa expiration after March 1, individuals would have had until August 10 to leave the country, then pay for an extension or face overstay fines. At the moment, this deadline has been extended to a one-month grace period from August 11 to September 11, 2020.
This directive comes to allow visa holders to leave the country without facing fines, and therefore able to re-enter on a new visa before the deadline approaches. Every expired visa holder who doesn’t leave the UAE until September 11 will face overstaying fines.
For the expired visit visa, there will be fine at AED 200 for the first day, and AED 100 each day after that until the changing its status. If your visit visa expired before March 1, the deadline to change your status remains on August 18.
The government news agency states that the ICA has urged those eligible to leave the country within the set deadline, which will help facilitate their return to the UAE with new status.
By the day Wednesday, August 12, people with expired or canceled residency visas are obliged to change their status. Anyone staying after this date will have to pay a fine of AED 25 per day plus AED 250 when leaving UAE.
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
