Until 1971, it was a member of the Trucial States, after which it gained independence and began to develop without any external influence. For a long time, Dubai has been in the shadow of the modern capital of the UAE, Abu Dhabi, but later an oil field was found near the city, and it brought prosperity to its residents.

Dubai began to develop rapidly and overtook the capital in terms of technological indicators. Today there is the first-built public metro in the region and a monorail. Technology has allowed Dubai to create several artificial archipelagos.
