According to the latest announcement, Dubai plans to resume business activities since Wednesday, May 27, from 06:00 AM to 11:00 PM across the emirate.
The news on reopening business activity followed by a virtual meeting of Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management chaired by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.
Establishments to reopen:
• Retail stores and wholesale outlets;
• Dubai airport will be open for repatriated UAE citizens and transit passengers;
• Clinics, including ENT and dentistry to be available;
• Expansion of services to include surgeries that take less than two-and-a-half hours;
• Educational and training institutes, and training and treatment centers for children;
• Online auctions, auction houses and outsourced government service centers (like Amer, Tasheel).
After a thorough analysis of various health and socio-economic aspects and a review of the COVID-19 situation in the emirate, the committee decided to restore business activity in a gradual regime. HH Sheikh Hamdan said “We are aware of the pressures many sectors are facing because of the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
It also has been stressed that precautionary measures must be followed and that adhering to guidelines is the key to returning back to ordinary life. So, general rules for every individual include wearing face masks, observing minimum physical distancing of two meters, the use of sanitizers, and regular handwashing with soap and water for 20 seconds.
Also, as part of temporary preventive measures, all returning citizens must adhere to a 14-day quarantine. While, children under 12 and seniors over 60 are prohibited to visit public places including malls, cinemas, sport and educational institutions.
Highlighting Sheikh Mohammed’s statement “Everyone is responsible”, he said the society should understand the importance of strictly following preventive steps. By following all precautional measures, UAE citizens will be able to overcome this crisis and get back to normal life as soon as possible.
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
