Dubai Tourism has issued directives to hospitality venues, allowing live entertainment in Dubai restaurants, pools, common areas within hotels. However, there must be put some rules in place to host entertainers.
According to the circular, nightclubs, bars, and dance floors are excluded from this new rule, as well as group band performances. Only solo acts are allowed including musicians, DJs, and stage show artists, they can perform only on stage keeping two meters distance from customers and wearing a mask at all times.
It is still prohibited to crowding in any area for spectating or dancing, etc. and physical distancing must be followed at all times. Guests are required to avoid queue outside a venue, nor should there be a waiting area inside. The circular claims that guests are not permitted to sit on the bar stools. Flashing lights or any club-like ambiance is still banned.
Guidelines also state that staff and customers should be screened on entry and all surfaces should be regularly disinfected. All customer-facing staff, kitchen staff, and cleaners are obliged to wear a mask and gloves at all times. If a customer goes outside the venue, he/she will be re-screened when returning in.
There are many strict rules in place, but it’s another step of the gradual reopening of the city and providing work opportunities for Dubai’s entertainers. It was noted that all acts must be permitted by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, schedule performances a few days in advance to invite entertainers back on stage.
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
