Dubai authorities have made recommendations that, if possible, everybody should stay home and not communicate with other people. But despite that passenger traffic in public transport is still quite large. And the Metro is one of the most popular modes of transport in Dubai, daily carrying hundreds of thousands of passengers.
According to the rules introduced by The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the number of passengers in metro carriages will be reduced due to the fact that it is necessary to avoid crowding and gathering even of small groups of people.
Following the recommendations of the World Health Organization, passengers are required to maintain a distance – there must be at least 1-2 meters of space between two people. In this case, you should completely abandon handshakes, hugs and other physical contacts during greetings. Such measures are necessary to exclude probable contact and possible infection even during conversations.
New measures have already led to the fact that on March 25, queues formed at the entrance to most Metro stations. Many passengers complain about the inconvenience and inability to maintain a distance between people at the entrance. This situation is largely due to the fact that passengers did not have preliminary information about new rules.
In addition to the requirements for distance between people, RTA will also take a number of steps to disinfect carriages and all Metro stations. For this, individual workers will be sent, sanitation will be carried out regularly.
All measures taken are important in the fight against coronavirus, but the most important means of containing the outbreak of a dangerous disease is self-isolation and temporary avoidance of contact. If possible, you should try not to use any kind of public transport and stay at home.
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
