Upon carrying out a series of inspections, Dubai Sports Council has urged sports and fitness centers to follow to all COVID-19 precautionary measures and safety protocols issued by relevant authorities or face fines and closure due to breaking guidelines.
After inspection of the facilities, teams from the Council and Dubai Economy found a swimming pool at one of the sports centers in violation of the safety protocols and have decided to shut it down until the facility proves adherence to all the requirements.
In addition, there was identified lack of safe distance inside the facility and an employee who was not wearing the mandatory face mask. Inspectors issued two fines at fitness centers for non-compliance with safety protocols – AED 5,000 and AED 3,000 for an employee not wearing a mask.
As it was announced earlier, any violation of the COVID-19 protocol will be fined and this academy or sports/fitness centers will be closed until the facility confirms compliance with the protocols, the hygiene, and sanitization requirements as mandated by local authorities.
It was reminded by the Council that all clubs, academies, and sports and fitness centers in Dubai are obliged to follow all the protocols and safety guidelines. In the near future, DSC and Dubai Economy teams will intense their inspections to check the full adherence with all COVID-19 precautionary measures.
The facilities have also been instructed to follow such measures as:
– 2-meter social distancing;
– wearing face masks;
– temperature check of guests;
– providing sanitizers, etc.
All the listed facilities have to put visible announcements and awareness signage on public display. Facilities have to hold appropriate records of their members, including names, telephone numbers, and visit dates for further contact tracing if it is necessary.
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
