The Dubai-based airline, flydubai announced that passenger flights will be suspended until June 4, 2020. However, the airline carrier will continue repatriation flights and cargo requirements to support people during strict travel restrictions.
The low-cost airline has already transported more than 1,651,929 kg of perishable goods, medical supplies, express courier, and essential goods. The airline has to allocate six of its Boeing 737-800 aircraft to operate as aid cargo flights. There were repatriated 12,532 passengers across 90 flights, subsequently, flydubai has doubled its cargo capacity.
Many foreign nationals receive a possibility to return home, particularly to Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Croatia, Egypt, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Pakistan, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Somaliland, Sudan, Thailand and the United Kingdom.
Though flydubai still isn’t saying when it is planned to restart regular passenger operations, it will continue to run more cargo-only flights. At the same time, repatriation flights will be subject to government approvals as the respective authorities of the countries are obliged to permit people to enter.
