The ban was officially announced by Dubai Media Office. This step was taken in order to maximize the preservation of the health, well-being, and safety of citizens and tourists. In particular, a message on the official Twitter page published on March 12 says “Dubai Government directs all shisha cafes and coffee shops to stop serving Shisha immediately for 2 weeks as a precautionary measure”.
Since it is known that the virus is transmitted by airborne droplets and remains on the surfaces for up to nine days, such measures cannot be considered an excessive precaution. To make sure that all venues strictly comply with the order, special inspections will be provided to monitor the situation.
All over the world, governments and individual organizations are taking measures to prevent the spread of the virus, including restrictions on mass gatherings and the postponement of events involving a large crowd of people. Dubai’s government is also concerned about the situation and is taking all measures to ensure the safety of people.
In addition to restrictions on the use of shisha, other measures were also taken – employees were allowed to work from home, recommendations were made to limit business meetings and foreign trips, people were provided with sanitary supplies in the required quantities, additional disinfection measures were taken, and much more.
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
