The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has issued a set of new restrictions for children returning to Dubai schools in September. At the same time, private schools and universities announce reopening in a new academic year.
There will be presented new rules for all staff, teachers, and school students over age 6 will be required to wear masks at all times inside the school.
As usual, every visitor will undergo the temperature check on arrival, which must not exceed 37.5 degrees Celsius. Some schools are planning to install thermal cameras making the entry process easier.
Parents or guardians won’t be able to enter school but they will be permitted to drop off and pick up their children. They can stay in a special area for a maximum of 10 minutes.
Schools will have to place desks 1.5 meters away from each other and students are not allowed to switch classrooms between lessons. However, teachers will move around to shut overcrowding in the halls and corridors.
Sports classes will be limited to reduce physical interaction. KHDA recommended using outdoor spaces for education, exercise, and breaks. School swimming pools will remain closed until further notice.
For pupils with symptoms of COVID-19, schools have to place a dedicated room. Their parent or guardian will be notified immediately. In this case, a pupil will not be permitted to return to school unless his/her test result is negative.
Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus which is causing illness in humans and animals. Most people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus will feel mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special treatment. Older people, as well as those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness, and require immediate assistance. Novel Coronavirus was first identified in a cluster with pneumonia symptoms in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China, quickly spreading around the world. On early March 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had officially started, becoming the defining global health crisis of our time. Today, it is the greatest challenge people have faced since World War II, worsened by subsequent lockdowns of whole countries, collapse of entire industries, and a major economic recession.
